This slicer is very nice & the blade is wonderful for slicing cheese. Great product & the cost is super.
John McLemore –
I recently used the slicer to cut down frozen boneless rib roast for Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches. The slicer was easy to use and performed the task well but with the frozen meat I had to cut slowly. The Teflon blade works well for cutting softer cheeses that usually stick. For the price, the slicer is an excellent buy. It is well-made and I look forward to many years of use.

It will do the job…forever!

you get what you pay for, great slicer, I started making my own bacon and needed the extra table width to slice the bellies, makes a chore less of a chore.

This slicer is a beast. I do not use it commercially so this review is based on my usage…. A few times a month. For home use it is far superior to any of the less expensive units I’ve had previously. It really does do paper thin slices of deli meats. I do my own Corned Beef and Roast Beef. It produces results similar to the Deli or Super Markets. Also sliced some cheeses, with the same results. Glad I went with the 12″ Teflon Bladed model. It is a little bit on the heavy side but I manage to carry it by myself. It is heavy duty and made very well. Cleaning the Slicer takes about ten minutes, but once you get the hang of it it is simple to do. The disassembly goes smoothly. Only tool necessary is a phillips head screw driver to remove three screws holding the blade on. I use slice resistant gloves when handling the blade, as it is very sharp. If you don’t use the gloves exercise care. If you decide to make the purchase, you won’t be disappointed.

Arrived in six days, well packaged, heavy duty unit, about 50lbs. Plan on a permanent location unless you are married to a longshoreman. Teflon blade is worth the extra $10. One year warranty. Extra belt and sharpening stone included. On/Off button with NSF cover on it. You put the feet on, then move the adjustable deck to the slicing depth you want. The dial was pretty stiff so I removed the drag bar underneath the deck adjustment and set the cut at 1.5 marking. If I can’t hold thickness I will put the drag bar back on and tighten the brass set screw. I like 1/16″ (1.5mm) thin. I am also going to put food grade silicone spray or Pam on the slide rails. If you have worked on and disassembled/cleaned slicers, this should be easy for you. Be sure you also buy the cut resistant gloves. Keep the shipping box and use it to store the unit or at least cover it up when not in use. Dust is your enemy.
I did find the owner’s manual, but it doesn’t tell you about fine adjustments. Hubby did reposition the shim under the gauge plate slightly to get perfectly even slices. He likes his roast beef just under 1, about 30 mil, which makes for a very tender bite. So far he is doing all the slicing. LOL I should have bought it sooner!!!

Another high quality product at a reasonable price. Cuts cheese like a dream!

Nicer than I anticipated. This is matching my needs perfectly and the price is a great value.

I am very impressed and pleased with this slicer. It is heavy and well built. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to take apart and clean and sterilize after using.
I have only used it twice so far, the most extensive with 8 pounds of cheese. Swiss and pepper jack. Almost 12 pounds of meat. Pastrami and corned beef.
It was effortless to cut the cheese, easily slicing through without it sticking to the blade. Perfect sandwich slices. Easily adjustable to the thickness you desire.
Meat can be cut paper thin if that is your choice. The motor hums quietly, never seeming to strain through any of the meats or cheeses. I am very pleased and it is worth every penny I paid for it. I figure it will pay for itself within 2 years. I now buy bulk roast beef for $3.50 a pound, instead of the $9.95 the deli charges.
Just take the time to properly clean and sanitize after using. Also it is very important to buy cut resistant gloves to handle the blade.

Wonderfu!

Absolutely a fantastic deal. Met and in some ways exceeded my expectations. Well made, solid and easy to breakdown, clean and put back together. Carriage slides easily, blade is sharp and ability to slice paper thin or “slab” thick is precise. For the money it is a great value. Have experienced no issues whatsoever.

Been looking to get a slicer for sometime now, and didn’t want to have regrets, so went big and purchased this 12″ slicer, but probably would have been fine to go with 10″. Worst of the reviews stated it wasn’t easy to clean, and or, that it took a long time to clean. The wife and I both felt it wasn’t an issue. It is a quiet unit, and is heavy. I have only used it once, on a smoked pork loin that we cut up shortly after removing from the smoker. Went very well this first time through. I will say the instructions are minimal, and the grammar would indicate it is foreign made. I have been unable to determine where this is made though. Calls to the customer service numbers go to a voice mail. It is not clearly stated, or stamped on the unit that i can find, and is the reason for 4-stars. I feel it should be visibly labeled as to country of origin.

This is a great slicer. Heavy duty, sharp, smooth operation and quiet. As easy to clean as a slicer can get. Took less than 5 business days from CA to NY. I use it to slice home made bacon, brisket and other foods. Can’t beat the price on this machine. The nice thing is KWS is a real company in the LA area that has parts and a customer service department.
Update 9/4/2017
I had a chance to really use this slicer this weekend. It is even better than I originally thought. I sliced about of bacon today. It worked flawlessly. As I mentioned above, it is really quiet. Also, the best part is it is very easy to clean. In order to get all the parts, you just remove the knob on the meat holder/slide and that whole part comes off for easy cleaning. Then, you remove the knob in the back of the slicer and it takes off the plate in front of the blade. That exposed 3 phillips head screws. Remove them and you can remove the blade. You want to have cut resistant gloves for this. Once this is done, you can easily spray the machine with disinfectant and wash the removed parts. Assembly is very easy too. Takes about 10 minutes for the entire process.
I won’t remove any stars for this but the only thing is, I wish the slide went back a little further so it could handle a little wider product. If you have a wide pork belly or a big prosciutto ham, you won’t be able to get a good cut at the widest point.
I totally recommend this for the price. High quality machine for home of light commercial use.

Got this for my dad’s restaurant because his slicer broke. He loves it especially since it is very quiet. He uses it weekly in his business and finds it very easy to slice meat 5/5 a great product

great value does a nice job
Arturo Schlechter –
At first glance it seems to be a great slicer. Mine showed up with damage due to packaging. There was a screw loose in the box that wedged itself between the meat try and the slicer/blade itself. Trying to see if KWS will replace damaged parts. I will update my review and star rating based on what happens there.
KWS Customer Service –
Dear Arturo,
We are very sorry for your inconvenience. The damages are very likely caused during shipment process. One of our customer service representative has emailed you regarding your case, we will further assist you once we hear back from you.

Work great… my parent like it very much. they happy now that it take faster to slice meat with no more hand fatigue.
KWS Customer –
Excellent machine. Used it today for the first time. First I shaved an entire deli ham, next I dialed up thicker slices for Canadian Bacon. I then moved on to bologna and sliced it thick – to pan fry. Last item was a 5 lb block of Swiss cheese. The slicer handled all of these without trouble. Cleanup went very quickly – about 15 minutes. I did order no-cut gloves to use when cleaning the blade – definitely worth it.

Great job thanks

Slices like a charm! Easy to clean! Highly recommended!
MANUEL PEREZ –
This is great slicer runs very smooth almost no noice, a lot better then older expensive machines not heavy and very easy to clean, I recommend this item great item.
wright –
Great slicer, very similar to the larger commercial slicers I have previously used. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is that it is more work to break it completely down for cleaning than many of the commercial slicers.
Nata –
Overall good but a few issues. Powerful slicer capable of making carpaccio from frozen fillet mignon. Cleaning is a bit of a chore. The front sharpening stone was cracked, the replacement belt was not in the box and the plastic food guard was cracked on delivery, seller asking for pictures instead of replacing straight away. The food holding clamp has cleats on all sides and as such leaves about 3/4 inch of whatever you are slicing left behind (can’t be sliced as it will not feed). Does not handle small diameter foods well as food holder does not come flush with the back corner of the cradle. This is not a Hobart by any far stretch of the imagination but it is not $2000 either. Expected more but it’s okay.

There is nothing I don’t like about this meat slicer … It just works , its powerful ,its quiet, its sharp, its easy to clean . I’d buy it again , but with its quality, I don’t think ill have to anytime soon.

The first slicer was damaged. I contacted the seller about a replacement. Mavis, of KWS, was prompt about the whole process. Sent me a return label. When KWS received the pkg they sent me a new one. Simple as that. Thanks Mavis

Works great. I took it apart, cleaned it, put it back together.
Then I sliced 5lbs homemade pastrami, 4lb smoked turkey breast, 1lb of cheddar and a stick of salami.
Took it apart again, cleaned it ,put it back together . All within 1 hours time.
So much nicer then my previous slicer! I’m very happy with this purchase.

ZIMO Z. –
my friend got this a few days ago, but when I plug it, but the blade does not move at all,, it does not work.
KWS Customer Service –
Dear Zimo,
We are very sorry for your inconvenience.
From the information that you provided, it seems like the blade guard ring is out of alignment which cause it to be touching the blade and prevent the blade from spinning freely.
This issue is caused during transit if driver ignore the indication and ship machine side way.
Please email our customer service team directly, one of our customer service representative will further assist you.

I don’t understand why people like Zimo Z leave one star reviews on isolated incidents like this one that the manufacturer or seller will typically be more than happy to fix. Most normal thinking people would call the seller, let them offer to fix the problem and then leave a review based on the actual operation of the machine and the seller’s customer service. Leaving a review like Zimo did is just ignorant. This is obviously a very good slicer and his comment is useless to anyone considering purchasing it. It’s just like the morons who respond to questions posted here with “Sorry, I can’t help you. I don’t know.” Some people are not the sharpest knives in the drawer, I guess.
D. D. –
This type of ridiculous review does nothing to help consumers looking for reviews to make informed purchasing decisions. does the outlet work? Is it possible that your friend did not pay his/her power bill? Just pointing out how silly this type of review is. Did you read the manual for troubleshooting assistance? did you contact technical support? I noticed how many clear, complete replies the manufacturer (KWS) posted for many of their product listings, which shows to me, that they are a good company with quick, accurate response time.

This slicer is awesome. I use it to slice many different meats, but mostly either beef roasts or bacon that I cured and smoked. Although I have not made prosciutto, I have tried slicing the bacon that thin, and I can do it.
Pros: easy to use, repeatable slices at thick or thin. I slice bacon thick (setting 5) and beef for sandwiches at about setting 2. One hint is to slice the meet when it is cool, but not frozen. You can slice frozen, but it tends to be difficult. The slicer runs very quietly and smoothly, and cuts through the meat with little effort. Note that neither this slicer nor any other I have seen is intended to cut bones – don’t do it.
Cleaning is not all that difficult, but you do have to take the machine apart including taking the blade off, which has three screws that hold it in. It takes me about 15 minutes to clean it. Unfortunately you need to do it by hand. Also, the blade is unbelievably sharp; so, I HIGHLY recommend you get some of the gloves that are intended for dealing with sharp knives, etc. They look like chain mail. The slicer comes with a sharpening stone that is easy to install and use, and it works!
Cons: The instructions are not so obvious. Fortunately, the slicer came with the blade on; so, you don’t need the assembly instructions. Some reviews complain that the slicer is too heavy (40 lbs), but it has to be; otherwise it would slip all over the place. That said, the weight is not really a con, but a necessity both because of the powerful motor and for stability. The only real con I can come up with is that there are a few little nooks and crannies in which meat “dust” tends to accumulate; so, cleaning requires some care. I use Clorox wipes followed by a damp paper towel.
To deal with the weight, I purchased a rolling table from Ikea that is the same height as my counter top. This has a wooden butcher block top and two metal shelves. Perfect for the slicer, and I can roll it into the laundry room when it is not being used.
Again, I can’t recommend enough some good gloves for handling the blade if you like your fingers. I got these: NoCry Cut Resistant Gloves – High Performance Level 5 Protection, Food Grade. Size Large for about $10. Well worth it. I have seen that the slicer comes in a 10″ model and a 12″ model. Go for the larger size. You will need it. Also, there is an option to get a Teflon coated blade or not. Go with it, it is only about $10 more, and the Teflon keeps the meet from sticking to the blade. Not the edge, of course, but the rest of the blade.
